A present for the best-behaved ones

Hi dear readers! Christmas is coming, and SURREAL GENERATION is excited to step in the holiday season. From today, we start sharing articles that will certainly give you ideas and inspiration for this magical period. Stay tuned!

Tiffany & Co has released the coolest advent calendar. This cabinet of curiosities doesn’t just convey the spirit of Christmas but adds a lot of the spirit of New York. The outside of the calendar is signed with bold artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of the most influential American artists of the XX century. This picture, the original “Equals P” on canvas, recently appeared in Tiffany’s About Love campaign. In the advent calendar, Tiffany placed the artwork on the cabin doors, as a tribute to an artist who used to utilize unconventional surfaces (including furniture) at the beginning of his creative path. The calendar is, in fact, a decent-sized, one-of-a-kind piece of furniture, handmade in white oak.

Behind the doors, the happy owners of the precious calendar will find 24 blue boxes with jewelry pieces and objects by the iconic American Maison.

Besides the exquisite presents hidden inside and the craft, this advent calendar doesn’t cease to amaze. Together with its release Tiffany announced a partnership with Free Arts NYC. The house will donate $ 250 000 to the organization. The funds will support a series of programs aiming at offering children from underserved communities in New York City greater exposure to the creative arts. All in all, it sounds like a great deal.
